Wasatch Playwright Residency: 2nd Season Announced!

Announcing the 2nd season of The Wasatch Playwrights Residency. Our inaugural event was the brainchild of Cole Stern, program director, with the support of Columbia University’s, Dr. David Henry Hwang.   This two-week residency brought an emerging playwright to Ogden to work with a local director and local actors to bring their new work to the stage.

The Playwright, Daniel Irving Rattner is a playwright based in New York City. He is currently pursuing his MFA in Playwriting at Columbia University.

His play, Better, explores the experience of recovery and relapse in an addiction treatment center. Audience members are invited to enter the New Beginnings Clinic, an inpatient rehab facility in the woods of Connecticut that uses a variety of therapeutic strategies to treat patients suffering from addiction. In addition to exploring their own coping mechanisms, participants are immersed in the stories of other patients at New Beginnings.

The Weber Arts Council (WAC) enriches the lives of Weber County residents by nurturing access to visual, performing and literary arts, and arts education and helping connect the arts to daily life, education, and economic development.
